Definition and core characteristics of cold chamber die casting machine
Cold chamber die casting machine is a kind of metal forming equipment, the core feature of which is that the injection chamber and injection punch are not immersed in the molten metal.
But through external pouring to feed the quantitative molten metal into the injection chamber for high-pressure injection molding.
The equipment is mainly used for die-casting of metals with high melting points such as aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy and copper alloy, especially for the production of parts and components with high requirements for precision, strength and complex structure.
Working principle and process
The working process of the cold chamber die casting machine can be divided into the following steps:
Alloy melting and pouring: The metal is heated to a molten state in an independent furnace, and the molten metal is poured into the injection chamber in a quantitative amount through a soup spoon or manipulator.
Injection Filling:
The injection punch pushes the molten metal into the mold cavity at high speed through multi-stage injection (slow injection→ fast injection → pressurization), ensuring adequate filling and reducing porosity.
Holding & Cooling:
Maintain high pressure until the metal solidifies to enhance the density of the casting.
Mold opening and ejection:
After the mold is cooled, the mold is opened, and the ejection mechanism separates the casting and the remaining material cake and pushes it out.
Features of cold chamber die-casting machines with different layouts:
Horizontal:
the injection mechanism is arranged horizontally, the production operation is simple, and it is easy to realize automation, which is widely used in automotive parts (such as engine blocks).
Vertical:
The injection chamber is placed vertically, with less gas entrapment, which is suitable for center gate design, but the production efficiency is low.
Full vertical:
the mold is installed horizontally, the molten metal flow is short, the pressure loss is small, and it is mostly used for precision parts such as motor rotors.
